FAQ

Do I need a Plug & Play video card to use your Plug & Play monitors?
Yes and No. Yes, if you want to take full advantage of a Plug & Play operating system such as Windows® '95. No, if you just want a monitor that works and you don't mind configuring your system's video parameters manually. That is to say, our monitors that are Plug & Play compatible do have a Display Data Channel (DDC). If you have a Plug & Play system, the display data will be used. If you do not, the data will be ignored.

Do I need a special driver or firmware to make my tape drive work with Windows 2000?
No. Windows 2000 provides native support for Scorpion backup drives. No additional drivers or firmware upgrades are required. Check Microsoft's Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) at www.microsoft.com/hcl/default.asp to verify compatibility. For a tape drive specific listing,

Do I need any special software to run the speakers?
No. The speakers do not require any software. Only the sound or telephony card in your system requires special software to operate.

Do I need Windows 98 to get past the 8.4-Gbyte barrier?
No, but it helps. Windows 98 has FAT32, which conveniently allows the full capacity of your hard disc drive to be accessed using one drive letter - a single C:\ prompt. Otherwise with Windows 95 original FAT16, you are limited to partitioning your hard disc drive into multiple 2.1-Gbyte logical drive letters.

Do SCSI devices require new drivers for Windows 98?
Maybe. General support is provided in Windows 98 for most popular SCSI host bus adapters. Drivers that support advanced SCSI features such as Ultra DMA and RAID based environments may need new drivers. See your host bus adapter manufacturer for updated driver questions.

Do you have an updated .INF file for Windows '95?
Yes. Download the self-extracting file VSINF.EXE from our file area and run the VSINF.EXE program to update your Windows '95 Monitor .INF file. This program also includes a Display Data Channel test for your monitor and video card.

Does Centri Firewall run with Windows NT Service Pack 3?
No. Centri Firewall does not work with Service Pack 3. You should install only Service Pack 2 and the hotfixes listed in the release notes. Future releases of Centri Firewall will support Service Pack 3.

Does Centri Firewall support computers that run mirrored disks?
Currently, this configuration is not supported. No testing has been performed on firewall servers with mirrored disk configurations.

Does Centri Firewall support computers with multiple processors?
No. Centri Firewall does not currently support computers running multiple processors. However, you can configure your multi-processor server to run in single-processor mode. In this configuration, Centri Firewall operates correctly. Edit the properties of this file using Windows NT Explorer so that you can edit this file. To modify the properties, deselect the Read-only check box under Attributes in the Properties box. Under the [operating systems] section of the boot.ini file, type the following parameter at the end of the line corresponding to the operating system version on which the firewall server runs: /NUMPROCS=1 Save your changes to the file, and reboot the firewall server. The firewall server should be running in single-processor mode.

Does Centri Firewall support PPTP?
No. Centri Firewall does not currently support the point-to-point tunneling protocol. However, you can define a custom network service based on only the IP Proxy that allows all IP-based traffic through the firewall server. In the security policy that you use to apply this custom network service, you can restrict this traffic to a specific host. While this solution does allow PPTP to pass, it also allows all other IP-based traffic through to that host, and therefore, this solution is not secure.
