FAQ

Can the same CUADDR be used across different paths/chpids in an EMIF scenario?
       Yes.

Can use 10/100 Auto sense function in up-link port for Dual speed Hub?
Yes, the up-link port is same as 10/100 Auto sense port. But, we suggest to using Cat 5 UTP cable.

Can you describe the memory architecture of a AGS router with MCI cards? Is the main processor memory visible to the MCI cards? Is the MCI memory visible to main processor? Is one MCI card's memory visible to another MCI card?
MCI memory space is accessible (indirectly) to the CPU.

Can you give me a rough estimate of what the database zone limitation is?
This is a very tough question to answer, as there is really no limit. However, we can answer that by giving you a practical limit. We suggest no more than 1 Million files in a database zone. In reality, from what we have seen, about 4 servers. However - users may have more than 1 million files and more than 4 servers in one database zone. If that is the case, the product will continue to function. If slowness appears (of server, of backups, of restore, of importing media), that is a good sign you should start thinking about having another zone.

Can you parallel your units if needed?
Yes, we can parallel as many of our units for capacity or redundancy as needed.

Centri Firewall does not enforce the security policy applied to a Windows NT Domain Group or User Account, or a user cannot authenticate to the firewall server. What might be wrong?
The failure to recognize a Windows NT domain policy can result from one or more problems: You are not running the userauth program. You must run the userauth program on all Windows NT and Windows 95 clients. You are running the userauth program, but you are specifying the IP address instead of the computer name for the argument to the userauth program. In Windows 95, you cannot use the IP address for this argument; you must use the computer name. However, in Windows NT, you can use the IP address. The firewall server address in the WINS database is not up-to-date. By default, the WINS server periodically refreshes its address database. To solve this problem, define a static mapping in your WINS database or manually refresh the WINS database.

Define winipcfg.
A nice Windows program, not a DOS utility. winipcfg will show all the configuration parameters currently active: you IP address, the address of your gateway, and the DNS address (and more).

Despite the amount of memory on your computer and video card, you still may receive this error message. This is not due to hardware limitations, but rather to the way Windows 3.1x uses memory. Windows 3.1x sets aside a 64K block of memory to manage the gr
All APC Back-UPS Office, Back-UPS Pro, and Smart-UPS models have a visual indicator light to warn you that the battery will soon need to be replaced.

Discrepancy Between Reported Capacity and Actual Capacity
Many customers are confused when their operating system reports, for example, that their new ST310240A 10.24-Gbyte hard drive is reporting only 9.85 Gbytes in usable capacity. Several factors may come into play when you see the reported capacity of a disc drive. Unfortunately there are two different number systems which are used to express units of storage capacity; binary, which says that a kilobyte is equal to 1024 bytes, and decimal, which says that a kilobyte is equal to 1000 bytes. The storage industry standard is to display capacity in decimal. Even though in binary you have more bytes, the decimal representation of a Gbyte shows greater capacity. In order to accurately understand the true capacity of your disc drive, you need to know which base unit of measure (binary or decimal) is being used to represent capacity. Another factor that can cause misrepresentation of the size of a disc drive is BIOS limitations.

Do all of the interfaces on the board share a common pool of MCI board tx buffers listed in (3)?
Yes, but rx buffers can also become tx buffers.
