FAQ

Will the Intel SE440BX-2 motherboard support Pentium III?
The SE440BX-2 motherboard will support all Pentium II processors, and the 450MHz Pentium III processor (latest BIOS required). For Pentium III processors 500MHz and above, the Intel SR440BX is required.

Will USB peripherals cost more?
USB peripherals will be competitively priced with the peripherals available on the market today.

Will USB replace SCSI?
If we're talking about USB 1.0 or 1.1 devices, then absolutely not! USB 1.0 and 1.1 ports (the only kind there are as of Dec. 1999), are designed to connect miscellaneous low speed peripherals external to a PC. It operates at 12 Mbits/sec.. It will handle things like keyboards, mice, modems, digital cameras, perhaps scanners etc. It is NOT intended for mass storage devices and is NOT a replacement for IDE or SCSI. USB 2.0 is being defined now and is supposed to be ready in Q1 2000. USB 2.0 is supposed to be able to run at 480 Mbits/sec. If that pans out, it would be practical to put storage devices on it. Even though that's still not as fast as parallel SCSI's 160 MB/sec (1280 Mbits/sec.), it could cut into parallel SCSI's territory, just as IDE has. I think USB 2.0 would be more of a threat to IEEE-1394 however.

Will your frequency converter also change the voltage?
Yes, we can supply a unit with any input and output combinations of voltages, phases and frequency.

Windows 95 is running in DOS Compatibility mode. What do I do?
Determining what is causing Windows 95 to run in DOS Compatibility Mode can be a challenge. Make sure that you are not using a third party driver that is incompatible with Windows 95. Some older versions of Disk Manager and EZ-DriveŽ may not work in your configuration. Ontrack?s technical support is available at 612-937-2121. Micro House?s technical support is available at 303-443-3389. If that does not work, look in your CONFIG.SYS file. Remark out all drivers that end in .SYS (except HIMEM.SYS) and reboot the system. Windows 95 should load successfully. Check the "My Computer" and "Systems" icons for 32-bit access. Go back into your CONFIG.SYS and add the .SYS drivers, one at a time, reloading Windows 95 after each one. When you find the one causing the conflict, contact that vendor for help. If you add all the drivers back in and are still running DOS Compatibility Mode, contact Microsoft directly.

With an AGP video card present ,sometimes I get no video even though the system is booting up.
USB peripherals aren't widely available on the market yet,so Windows95 USB drivers aren't readily available. But you can enable the USB ports by getting the Microsoft USB driver & the intel USB INF.

With my cable modem why does Internet Explorer seem to be so much faster than Netscape Communicator?
This is because netscape decompresses images much more then Internet Explorer. Set up explorer to fully decompress images and it will be the same.
